Financial Aid Opportunities
Financial Aid Opportunities
We believe every child should have the opportunity to experience Jewish camp, regardless of financial circumstances. That’s why the Jewish Federation of Greater Ann Arbor, in partnership with Jewish Family Services of Washtenaw County (JFS) and the Foundation for Jewish Camp (FJC), offers scholarship opportunities to help make camp more accessible for families.
Need-Based Jewish Camp Scholarships (JFS)
Through JFS, families can apply for need-based scholarships to attend Jewish overnight or day camps, including Camp Gan Israel and the JCC’s Camp Raanana. Applications are open until early April and can be found at JewishAnnArbor.org.
Additional Scholarships
We are committed to making sure that the JCC’s programs are available to all members of the community. To support this commitment, the JCC has scholarship assistance available to help offset the costs should the JFS Scholarship not meet the needs of your family.
How to Apply for Scholarship Assistance
Families seeking scholarship assistance should submit the following:
- A letter requesting financial assistance
- Federal Tax Returns – Most recent signed returns with attached schedules
- Foreign Tax Returns – If applicable, the most recent signed copy
- Other Financial Assistance Documentation – Proof of childcare subsidies, camp scholarships etc.
All materials should be sent to [email protected]
Scholarship Assistance Eligibility & Discounts
The JCC uses the Federal Poverty Guidelines and Federal Poverty Level (FPL), updated each year, as the baseline for determining scholarship assistance, although we do consider extenuating circumstances when needed.
APGI Range (FPL) | Camp Tuition Discount |
250-300% | 10% |
200-250% | 15% |
Below 200% | 20% |
The goal of the scholarship assistance program is to provide aid to all applicants with demonstrated need. Therefore, these percentages will be adjusted, as needed, so the total value of scholarships fits within the funds available for scholarships. If the total is x% higher than the available funds, scholarships will be reduced by the same x% across the board.
Additional Discounts & Policies
Please note that scholarship assistance cannot be combined with additional discounts.
Jewish Professionals Discount – In order to support those working at Jewish institutions throughout the Ann Arbor Community, the JCC offers a discount of 25% on ECC tuition. A yearly letter from the Jewish Institution is required to obtain this benefit. The institutions that qualify for this discount are decided at the sole discretion of the executive director of the JCC.
