The Ann Arbor JCC has flexible spaces for meetings, professional development/continuing ed classes, athletics, baby showers, britot milot or simchot batot, b’nei mitzvot, birthdays, graduation celebrations, weddings, and other special events or private parties. The slide show below showcases just a few examples. Our facilities include:

Lounges – There are three lounges available for rent at the J: Newman (40×36), Levine (30×17), and Gelman (38×17). These lounges are fully carpeted and have sound amplification available. Newman and Levine have projection screens in the ceiling. Newman has a professional gallery hanging system for art along with three lighting levels.  A partition system is in place dividing each of the lounges. They can be rented individually or in combination to accommodate a variety of needs.

The Maas is a multipurpose room whose floor is divided into roughly 2/3 tile, 1/3 carpet. This room also has counter space and a sink, which makes it a great option for meetings, book groups, art groups, and children’s birthday parties.

Gymnasium – The gym is available for athletic activities, large scale celebrations, birthday and other parties, or other special events. Those who rent the gym for athletic activities must sign a waiver form prior to its use. The gym can be rented individually or in combination with other spaces, and can be transformed into a truly magnificent celebration space.

Additional spaces – Our conference room and front atrium are also available for rent and can be rented individually or in combination with other spaces. Our classrooms are unavailable during daytime hours, but can be rented for evening and weekend use (special approval required). We also have outdoor space suitable for large tents and other set ups, and our property is adjacent to a public Ann Arbor park.

A note about food and our kitchen: The Ann Arbor JCC maintains a kitchen licensed by the Washtenaw County Department of Health, and it is under the kosher supervision of Rabbi Michael Beyo. It is not available to rent for cooking purposes and certain services that require kitchen equipment will be provided differently Friday evening to Saturday night. Accommodations can be made for its use in staging, cold prep, and clean up with prior permission and instructions. The J welcomes you to bring outside food regardless of its source at no charge, however it cannot enter the kitchen. The J does not have an in-house caterer but does have a resident chef who is happy to contract independently, and the J can provide suggestions upon request. The Ann Arbor area has several caterers that are comfortable producing kosher events, and also boasts a variety of catering options from fast casual restaurants to high end cuisine. Nuts are not allowed to protect our many nut allergic guests – please make your caterer aware of this.

Amenities

At no additional charge, rentals may utilize inventory tables in a variety of shapes and sizes, black or metal folding chairs, blue tables cloths, a lectern, projection screens, projector, tv/dvd player (Blue Ray not available), and coffee and hot water carafes, subject to capacity and availability. The building has its own parking lot, as well as close free street parking and free password protected WiFi. Rental also includes secure entry and a Welcome Associate who will both allow entry and greet and direct guests, as well as a maintenance crew member to assist with logistical support. The building has water fountains, gender neutral single bathrooms, and gendered multi-stall bathrooms.

Basic Information

Rentals generally require at least one month’s advanced notice and are subject to availability. A 50% deposit will be required upon confirmation with the remainder due the day of the event. For some events, based on subject matter and/or expected attendance, we will require our security to be present at the organization’s or individual’s expense. Details and pricing are available by contacting us. Sports and fitness rentals may incur different pricing.
