ARTIST STATEMENT
My first encounter with the arts was as a weaver. I loved the tactile quality of the yarns and the physical effort of producing fabric art. But, moving to Israel for nine years and living in a small kibbutz apartment necessitated giving up the loom.
I left the states just short of completing my B.A. On my return I enrolled in the Fine Arts department at EMU and obtained my B.F.A. in 2004.
There was a long, long period of artistic stagnation after the death of our son Yossi, in 2005. But, finally, the urge to paint returned, and the enjoyment.”
“These past few years have been my most productive, Andy says. Even the COVID pandemic had an upside. Surprisingly, the isolation was a boom for my creativity.
Some of the paintings in this exhibit are an expression of my recent travels to Italy and Costa Rica. Others, simply an outlet for my love of color and abstract design. Enjoy.
