Camp Raanana serves children entering Young Fives through Grade 9. Campers are placed into appropriate groups based on grade development, with some groups being more blended ages. Group sizes are balanced with around 15 campers for lower elementary ages and around 20 campers for upper elementary ages (with the exception of a small Atid cohort for campers entering grades 7- 9). At least 2 counselors are placed with each group, with generally another Ozo or counselor for support. In addition, leadership and specialty staff are available and accessible as needed. Campers will participate in activities within their camper groups, as well as have times throughout the day and week for choice periods. Campers entering grades 7 – 9 participate in a range of regular camp activities, as well as a mix of field trips and leadership training. For those entering grade 10 and interested in participating in the Camp Raanana experience, please see our Ozrim page. For those entering grade 11 and up, please see our employment page.
The Camp Raanana day starts with Drop-off between 8:10 and 8:25am with the bus departing the JCC at 8:30 AM sharp. At 9:00 AM, we arrive at Cedar Lake Nature Center in Chelsea where the fun begins. After a busy day of rotating activities like swimming, boating, singing, archery, and more, campers board the bus and return to the JCC by 4:00 PM for pick-up between 4:00 and 4:15pm. Campers are also welcome to be dropped off at and picked up from Cedar Lake Nature Center if that is more convenient. Post camp care is available between 4:15 and 6:00pm – see below.
