Israel Center: Gender, Race, & Racism: Israeli Cinema at the Cutting Edge (Session 1)

The Israel Center @ the J welcomes Rachel Harris, Ph.D., faculty at the University of Illinois, who will present a three part mini-course entitled, “Gender, Race, and Racism: Israeli Cinema at the Cutting Edge.”  Click here for more information about Dr. Harris. Session 1: Witches and Wailers: The Depiction of Mizrahi Women
Explore the complicated nature of Mizrachi Jewish identity in Israel. This session will include a screening of the feature film “Three Mothers” (2006).

This monthly conversation series will explore our personal, communal, and broader relationships with Israel through questions about the similarities and differences between the North American and Israeli communities. What challenges do we share? What legacies?
