Artist Dennis Gordon reception
September 16 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Dennis Gordon works are primarily watercolor, pastel, pen and ink, and woodcuts. One avenue that he has worked on for a period, was creating a combination of two watercolor paintings. This process involved substantial time to determine which two watercolor paintings would work well together. The next step was to determine which of the two paintings to cut into strips, what size strips, location of the cuts, and then which strips to use and where to place them on the other painting. His style fluctuates from semi-realistic, to impressionistic and expressionistic. Dennis writes” I believe that good art should evoke an emotion in the viewer and try to do more than capture an image, but also capture a mood. I am currently pursuing trying to turn some of my richly textured pen and ink drawings into woodcuts. I am doing this with a combination of laser cutting and more traditional wood cutting techniques.”
A reception for the artist is Sunday, September 16th from 3-5 pm.
The Exhibit runs August 29 – October 21, 2018
