Do you have general questions about mental health?  Do you need information on where to go to find the type of assistance you need?  If so, we can help by answering your basic mental health questions and providing you with assistance options for any age group.  With the help of Jewish Family Services and various local health care professionals we are here to help you.

What is healthy development in 0-5 year-old children? How can I tell what’s “normal?” Ways to stimulate your child’s development and get help if needed. Talk will teach parents how to use play and other strategies to promote children’s well-being.

*Talk will focus on social-emotional development in particular.  Parents will come away with practical, fun strategies to help their children grow.

Dr. Beth Pearson is a licensed clinical psychologist in Michigan and California. She has over 10 years of clinical experience.  Dr. Pearson currently works at Arbor Psychology Group in Plymouth.  She has specializations in the areas of parent-child relationships, disruptive behavior disorders, ADHD, anxiety, social delays, and trauma. She uses a strength-based, collaborative approach, drawing on research about the most effective assessments and interventions.

 

Better Living Fitness will be here at the J hosting a variety of activities including a seminar on Nutrition and Memory and Muscle Testing.

They will also be offering discounted memberships to J members for personal training and much more!

 

Nutrition and Memory

For the first time ever, a study has shown really promising results in reversing the symptoms of memory loss. Even if you don’t have memory loss (yet), you’ll want to make changes to your diet based on this information. Keep your brain healthy and learn strategies to prevent memory loss.

Helping Kids Work through Emotions

Date: Wednesday April 26th

Time: 5PM – 6PM

Presenter: Erin Hunter

This seminar aims to help parents of children of all ages develop strategies for how to deal with emotion in their children. We will discuss research on effective strategies for parent emotion coaching as well as how to tailor these strategies to your own unique children. Dr. Hunter is a child clinical psychologist whose graduate work focused on parental socialization of child and adolescent emotion and whom has been working as a therapist and clinical supervisor at the University Center for the Child and the Family in Ann Arbor for the past 7 years.
